Checkups and Cleanings
Preventive dental checkups and cleanings are the best insurance you have for your oral health. Waco dentist Dr. Corbet Locke encourages his patients to come in to his central Texas dental office every six months for a routine dental cleaning and checkup.
During the cleaning portion of your appointment, our team of hygienists will thoroughly clean your teeth, focusing on the gum line and any areas with significant plaque accumulation, to rid your mouth of harmful bacteria. Once your cleaning is complete, Dr. Locke and our hygienist will discuss your dental hygiene habits with you. If needed, they will make suggestions about ways to improve your dental care between appointments and products, such as an oral rinse, you can use to achieve optimal oral health.
Then, Dr. Locke will examine your teeth, gums, tongue, and general oral cavity. During this portion of your appointment he will address any ongoing conditions you may have, including early signs of periodontal disease and dental caries (cavities). Dr. Locke will also screen for any abnormalities in your mouth that may signify oral cancer, gum disease, tooth decay, or other oral health problems. If Dr. Locke finds any areas of concern, he will design a treatment plan that is specific to your needs to help your restore your dental health and overcome any challenges. Also, Dr. Locke will look at your tooth structure to determine if any restorative work, including dental crowns, composite fillings, bruxism treatment, or root canal therapy is needed, or if any old or failing restorations need to be replaced.
