Frequently Asked Questions About Cosmetic Dentistry

Question: Who qualifies for cosmetic dentistry?

Answer: Anyone who has imperfections on their teeth can receive cosmetic treatment. We will examine your teeth and gums to assess the cause of your esthetic issues. From there we recommend one or more procedures to improve the appearance of your smile.

Question: How do I remove teeth stains?

Answer: If you have discolored teeth we can remove them with whitening procedures. First, we offer an office-based procedure known as Zoom! Whitening. The procedure involves placing a protective covering onto the lips and gums. From there, a powerful bleaching gel is added to the front of the teeth. We activate the bleaching gel with a curing light, which erases discoloration in as little as an hour. We can also mask teeth stains by placing a thin shell of porcelain onto the teeth, also known as porcelain veneers.

Question: What happens if I chip a tooth?

Answer: If you chip a tooth we can rebuild the loss structure with dental bonding. We use the same lifelike material we use in fillings. We simply add several layers and then sculpt the tooth. After curing the material, we polish the tooth so your bonding blends with the remaining tooth structure.

Question: Can several imperfections be corrected at once?

Answer: Yes. We discussed veneers above. In addition to masking discoloration, we can use veneers to reshape the tooth, close gaps between teeth, and even correct the appearance of minor alignment issues. If you have any questions we urge you to contact our office today.
