Porcelain Veneers: The Basics
Dealing with a single imperfection or multiple aesthetic concerns can truly make you feel unhappy about your smile. Rather than hiding your teeth away from the world, we encourage you to improve your smile with porcelain veneers so you feel confident about the way you look every moment of the day. Whether you’re speaking with someone, sharing joy, or laughing, your teeth make an appearance. Learn more about how this cosmetic treatment can dramatically improve the way you feel about yourself:
About Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are ceramic shells crafted out of multiple translucent layers of porcelain. The shells fit directly over the visible portion of your teeth for a cosmetic improvement that looks and feels natural. To ensure the veneers rest flush against your teeth, we will comfortably prep your teeth by gently removing a minimal portion of your tooth’s outermost layer – also called your enamel.
What to Expect
We will first meet with you during an initial consultation to take impressions of your teeth. We will send the impressions to a lab where a master ceramicist will use them as the basis to create your veneers. During your first visit we will also discuss your preferences for your improved smile and we will prep your teeth. You will typically return for one more visit, so we may permanently place the veneers and make final adjustments.
Porcelain veneers offer a wide variety of benefits, improving the appearance of your smile. This cosmetic treatment offers the following:
- Improved tooth shape or size, according to your preferences and to the dimensions that will best suit your facial features
- You may achieve a whiter, brighter smile
- Veneers can fill minor gaps between teeth, replacing orthodontic care
- This treatment camouflages surface problems like discoloration, minor chips and cracks, and textural issues for a beautiful transformation
